On Death and Dying

I am here visiting my mother. She is dying. Naturally, one thinks about death. Much has been written about it.

There are those who believe that somehow our thoughts and experiences do not die with our physical body. That when we die we will come face to face with a God and will have to answer for our life.

I have a hard time comprehending that. It’s hard for me to imagine a data matrix large enough to handle all the thoughts of all the conscious beings in the universe that have come and gone throughout history.

Somehow, if I am reasoning correctly, there has to be some mechanism for storing all that information. That is what our brain does for each of us while we are alive.

I mean, if I go to heaven or hell, mustn’t my memories go too? Otherwise, what’s the point?

How would that data be stored, organized and recalled?

Here’s something else to ponder;  If that data is stored and you believe in reincarnation, why don’t you recall the memories of your previous lives?

Now I don’t why (and I don’t think it really matters) we have been given this miraculous opportunity to experience being a Witness to Creation. And I acknowledge the limitations of my peabrain. But I believe once our shell expires, so does our consciousness.

So this is your opportunity to have the most miraculous, truly incredible journey. Don’t waste your time worrying about things not under your control.  All you need to focus on is to think good thoughts, speak good words, do good deeds.

Even if I’m wrong about death, you can’t go wrong living your life like I’m right.
