There is a fundamental force in the universe. It is called negative feedback. It’s really about the back and forth flow of energy. It permeates every single system. Of course the amplitude and period may vary depending on many variables for each system. But the point is it produces stability in the universe.
One example is the predator-prey relationship depicted in the above picture. If there is an abundance of prey, the predator population will increase until the prey population decreases and balance is restored.
When we try to create human systems that do not include negative feedback, the system will be inherently unstable.
Negative feedback is manifest in our political structure. So, when you think about the current state of affairs, realize there will always be the continual swing between the two poles of our system.
Therefore, do not despair.
It’s not really under your control. It’s just the way the universe operates.
